The label was founded in early 2004 under the name ?Armageddon Music? and is now an inherent part of the whole Wacken network. Since the first DVD ?W:O:A Roadshow Live 2003? all secondary releases of the W:O:A on DVD and CD appear on Wacken Records.
At the same time consequent groundwork and development of newcomers remain the main objective and centre of attention for the label. That is how every year the winner of the worldwide W:O:A Metal Battle wins a record deal with Wacken Records and is from then on closely accompanied in order to secure the band?s future development and musical maturing. Nonetheless, also long-established acts from the hard rock and metal scene like Suidakra, Rose Tattoo, Holy Moses or the Wacken icon Mambo Kurt have found their new home here.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the open air the Wacken hymn ?We Are The Metalheads? by Doro Pesch was released in summer 2009 as a CD digipack. The single includes two additional tracks of Thomas Jensen?s band Skyline. He is not only one of the founders of the W:O:A but also the managing director of Wacken Records.
